I bought my first guitar in the 1990s. A student on my uni course suggested it. Thank goodness I did.
To this day, I write songs that help express how I feel and help manage my anxieties.
Last summer, whilst I was working driving buses, I had the idea to raise money and awareness for mental health by performing some of my songs.
I didn't quite know what the fundraiser would look like, so I shared my idea with my union representative, Ian. He was excited by the idea of a man putting on a performance to raise awareness of mental health issues.
I got talking to Kal and Jenny from the Open Mic Surgery, who suggested we should include the skills and knowledge of Steve (Pilot Scheme) - and the idea of putting on 7 gigs in 7 days was born.
As time went by, we enlisted the help of my works colleague Bhavesh (Bhav) to create this website, and the Xpress team was formed.
